Yes, Hemingway is a big deal. If you know nothing about American history, you should know something about Hemingway, especially if you are a writer. I confess to not knowing much about him before I started to write an interview with him, but the more I researched, the more I became engrossed: he grabs you, that’s all there is to it, and why I call the article the “rabbit hole.” — one can go there, get lost, and never want to go back. And I’m not kidding. There are some people that get a lot done in their first 18 years and Hemingway was one of them. I think of his 61 years and realize that he lived enough for five people in a hurry and none of it boring. Now, I’m not condoning his drinking, his lion hunting, or his womanizing, in other words his attitudes and life style (well, only a little), but still, I make no judgements. Let’s just say that he was a man of his time. I will add that he is interesting, mucho, mucho interesting.
