Amigos. How easy is it to come full circle? Easy, just watch.
Our Man Flint is an action movie that parodies the James Bond type, starring James Coburn. In it, the bad guys try to blackmail the world by using their climate control machine to manufacture earthquakes, snowstorms and other natural disasters. Nowadays, we’re more advanced and we don’t need a machine, not when we have a news media that makes up the news as they go. The problem these days is separating the news, I mean real news, from what’s made up news—fake or manufactured by the very people reporting it. Last week, for example, we had snowfall in Washington DC and NY City, as we normally do this time of year . . . “yawn.” I say people that live near the North Pole should not be surprised by snow, and smart people like us that don’t live there should be left alone and not put through the “this is big news” extravaganza. But these days, it’s not snow, and a heavy snowfall is not “heavy” anymore: Snowzilla, Megasnow, ginormous, pythonic. Okay, I made that last one up, but you get the gist. The week before, my friend Vladimir Putin was blamed by the British for the death of a former Russian agent in London by Polonium poisoning. Really? The very people that came up with secret agents with “license to kill” are surprised a world leader is involved in anything as mundane as killing a former agent that talks. I noticed we didn’t say much. I guess bombing a hospital the month before and killing 42 innocent doctors, nurses and patients, took the flame out of our official outage. Polonium by the way emits an alpha particle forming a deadly isotope of lead. Lead as in Our Man Flint Michigan. Close circle.
