A little doom? . . .

Posted on Posted in Blog

Well, I’m disappointed. No, not at the election results, since once I knew what the choices were, I lost interest. Rather, I’m disappointed that the cataclysmic results forecast by either party if the other one won the election never materialized. It’s been a week now and so far I’m waiting. I figured that if everyone predicted doom, than it stood to reason we would have doom, one way or the other, or a little doom anyway, perhaps a baby doom? But so far not even a hint. Now there’s more questions than before. How unfair is that? Where did big doom go? Can a baby doom hide?

I didn’t think it was possible, but I guess both sides were wrong, and I will have to wait a while longer for the sky to fall and Plaff! flatten us all. And no, I didn’t spend a lot of time worrying about it, or being scared, a married man learns to handle that easy enough, but my anticipation has been frustrated.

So, I learned a lesson. Mainly, never anticipate doom, never get curious of what it looks like, and don’t believe anyone’s timetable of when it will be here. After all, one lesson from history, and one that’s hardly ever mentioned, is that life marches on. How simple is that? I suppose it doesn’t quite make a headline like predictions of doom seem to, but maybe it should.

Bottom line so far: Regardless of whether it’s a big human errors on a global scale or a smaller ones on a personal level, life is good enough to march on.

Now all you out there that missed reading between the lines, notice I said life. I didn’t mention anything about sapiens, but still, maybe one day when I have more confidence in my predictions, I will.
