Guest essay. Life Was Rough. Denton Record Chronicle, 4-5-19

I’m constantly reading how life was so tough for an immigrant like myself and so it’s no wonder that other people reading the same articles get a one sided picture of life in other countries, far, far away from the mostly commodious and comfortable US of A. My life as a kid in Chile wasn’t typical, I will now admit, but you don’t know that when you’re a five year-old. At the time, my brother, both my sisters as well as all my cousins thought nothing of our spectacular surroundings, probably supposing every kid in the country had the same advantages, and many did.
